A large portion of our work, which you might call our standard-ware and pretty much all of our custom work, is fired to mid-range temperature in our electric kilns. They are still fired hot enough to be microwave and dishwasher safe, but require less energy and labor than the wood fired process, as well as just being generally more consistent. We fire to around 2150 degrees Fahrenheit, or cone 5-6, and use both warm, red terracottas and various stone- and earthenwares. This is also the main process we use for making custom mugs or lights, teaching students to work with clay, and the “Paint your own” pottery we have available at our shop in Decatur, TX.
